I am the owner and founder of The Swamp School and Marsh Magic. With a professional background in wetland science, I draw inspiration from the natural world and bring that same sense of curiosity and discovery into my performances. As a magician, I blend comedy, clowning, and classic illusion to create interactive and family-friendly shows. I especially enjoy stage magic for kids and parlor magic, where I can share big, colorful moments with children and bring a sense of wonder to more intimate settings. My playful style makes laughter, surprise, and imagination central to every performance.
I became interested in magic as a kid. I worked in a magic shop, which gave me a front row seat to the art of illusion. Around the same time I had a friend, Frank Pazel, who was making magic props for Tannen’s, one of the most legendary magic stores in the country. Watching him craft professional quality props while I learned the ropes in the shop was inspiring and it gave me an early appreciation for the creativity and craftsmanship behind the magic.
Kids stage magic and parlor.
My main interests in magic are stage magic for kids and parlor magic. I love creating big, colorful moments on stage that capture children’s imaginations, while parlor magic lets me bring that same sense of wonder into a more intimate setting. Both styles give me the chance to connect with audiences in different ways and share the fun and surprise that makes magic so special.
When I was 18, I was a clown magician. One day my truck broke down, so I had to ride my motorcycle to a gig… in full clown gear. Do you know how hard it is to shift gears with giant clown shoes? Halfway there I got pulled over. The cop just looked at me and said, ‘We can’t charge you with anything, but please… never do this again.’ So I put my helmet back on over my rainbow wig and rode off. Pretty sure that cop still tells that story.
What I love most about the Raleigh Magic Club is the camaraderie. It is a place where magicians of all levels come together to share ideas, encourage each other, and keep the art of magic alive. The friendships and support make it feel like more than just a club. It feels like a family.
